Trifecta Writing Challenge #63: SIR WALTER

Picture11-1
“Oh what a tangled path we weave.”
“My, aren’t you the dramatic one! But you’ve got the quote wrong, I don’t think it’s path.”
“What are you talking about, of course it is.  It’s by Shakespeare.”
“Not! I’m gonna look it up.”
“Go right ahead Miss Google-Pants.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Web, Ethel. It’s ‘web’, not ‘path’. I think it was by Sir Walter Scott, not Shakespeare.”
“Think!  Don’t you give me ‘think’, Cheryl, you know damn well who it is, you just looked it up for Christ’s sake!”
*******************************************
It seems Ethel’s Trifecta woes continue.  This week’s challenge was the third definition of Path..
Here is what Cheryl found at Wikipedia…
Sir Walter Scott.
Friday Fictioneers: BIG DAY
”Coffee, Tea or Me?”
Oh God, Renee’s in her stewardess mode again.  She should know by now I don’t like to play “Fly Me to the Moon”.
“Come on, let’s get you undressed Mr. Grumpy-face”.
Ooh… watch it with the arm, bitch.  Why can’t Jan do this?  I hate Renee’s baths, she gets the water too cold, and leaves me sitting too long.
“Big day today, sweetheart.  Do you want to wear the blue shirt or the tan one.”
Why does she always ask me?  I don’t even remember what blue looks like.
“Okay then, the blue one.”
“Hello Grandpa!!!”
Friday Fictioneers: THE PART’S THE THING
copyright-claire-fuller
The familiar faces adorning the entrance to the Globe Theatre emerged from the fog, reminding Mr. James Teach how much in demand his services were. With his lithe frame and lyric voice he always got the part. Problem was, he was tired of playing maidens.
The Drury Lane manager had put in a good word to the playwright of a new work about a prince in Denmark. James was confident of landing the part of Laertes, he had been practicing sword-fighting for days now.
There was the familiar bald pate.
“Ah, Mr. Teach, how would you like to play Ophelia?”
Trifextra Wrighting Challenge #53: “DIALOGUE”
Picture11-1
“Dialog?  What the hell kind of prompt is that?”
“For cryin’ out loud, Ethyl, it’s simple.  Write 33 words of a conversation.”
“But I want a picture, a definition.”
“You’re not getting one.”
The Trifextra Writing Challenge…  “For the weekend prompt we’re asking for exactly 33 words of dialogue.”
TrifEXtra Writing Challenge: The Writer
The tricycle groaned and moved two more inches forward. “Who picks a word like ‘personification’ for a prompt, anyway?” Schwinn thought.
The pen skipped across the page, scratching and trying to leave a trail of something to answer the prompt. “I don’t know what to write, everything knows that doesn’t really happen right?” Bic asked.
The Writer moves the trike out of the way and looks for his pen.
***************************
Apparently… I did not read the instructions very well, apparently I didn’t read them at all, assuming this was a Trifecta Challenge… but no, this is the TrifEXtra!  Which limits the word count to 33 exactly.  So… I’m a little over.  I would not have known, except for the kind and gentle suggestions calling this to my attention by readers.  I will be more careful next week.
Herewith my edited version:
The tricycle groaned and rolled two more inches forward.
The pen skipped across the page to answer the prompt.
The Writer moves the trike out of the way and looks for his pen.
Friday Fictioneers… FORBIDDEN LOVE
100 Word Flash Fiction
copyright-renee-homan-heath
One last lingering kiss.
A forbidden union by centuries old taboo. But, will love conquer all? We think not. See those eyes watching through the fronds?
It had been a glorious few days, despite their constant worry. They had been careful though, and true love had blossomed from lust. They hoped to unite, not only themselves but their people. It was time to return, and as he headed to the outrigger, he took one last look at her lithe figure disappearing into the palms to her family home.
The eyes followed her… it was many months before he heard the news.
Rochelle sent all The Fictioneers a beautiful photo that Renee Heath, at Rendezvous With Renee, took at her daughter’s wedding.  It is such a beautiful wedding aisle, I wonder who or what will be walking down it today, after the Friday Fictioneers get their hands on it.  They can be a blood thirsty lot.  If you want to know more about 100 Word Flash Fiction and  The Friday Fictioneers  go see Rochelle and join in with your story.  To see Renee and other’s stories go here…
Picture11-1
the cruciverbalist
knew it was going to be a bitch, even before starting.  no numbers.  but had to do it, do it every week.  always had numbers.  usual black and white boxes, no numbers in the white ones this time. don’t like new.  these things are hard enough… damn constructors!
*******************
I’ve seen the Trifecta Challenge, and always wanted to try it… the first time on THE MUSE UNLEASHED… my pal Carrie Rogozinski’s blog.  She has been on a book reviewing jag lately,  but is a talented writer who has never met a prompt she could pass up… usually incorporating 3 or 4 in the same story.  I’ll stick to one, thank you very much.  Here it is:
The word prompt for this week’s Trifecta Challenge is:BITCH (noun)
1: the female of the dog or some other carnivorous mammals
2 a : a lewd or immoral woman
b : a malicious, spiteful, or overbearing woman —sometimes used as a generalized term of abuse
3: something that is extremely difficult, objectionable, or unpleasant
If you want to enter the Trifecta Challenge… please remember:
  • Your response must be between 33 and 333 words.
  • You must use the 3rd definition of the given word in your post.
  • The word itself needs to be included in your response.
  • You may not use a variation of the word; it needs to be exactly as stated above.
  • Only one entry per writer.
  • Trifecta is open to everyone.  Please join.
